Imperial Casino im Test 🥇: Spieler Erfahrungen 2020
[PI] Snake Eyes - Superstition - 3152 Words
Working at a casino was not exactly #lifegoals. But it was better, I reflected, as I glanced down at my scratchy pink poodle skirt and ankle-grinding roller skates, than being a waitress at a Fifties theme restaurant. Anything is better than working at a theme restaurant. Believe me. If you hear ‘Fifties restaurant’ and start dreaming of Uma Thurman and John Travolta dancing with wild abandon, stop it. Tarantino lied to you. It’s just screaming children and drunk tourists, all the way down. Which was why, when my Friday morning shift in that hell finally ended, I shrugged back into street clothes and left for my interview at the Grand Imperial Casino with a spring in my step and a smile on my face. I’d hoped that by my twenty-fourth year of life, I’d be interviewing for something a bit more ambitious than blackjack dealer at the newest addition to the Las Vegas strip, but at this point I’d take what I got. The bus ride downtown was boring, so I’ll break here to introduce myself: my name is Mika. Well, technically, my name is Miguelita Hortensia Maria Francisca de Toledo Rosario Vasquez. But that’s too long even by Mexican standards, so go ahead and call me Mika Rosario, because that’s going to save us both a bunch of time. Yeah, you think YOU hate going to the DMV. Anyway, today was going to be my day. I’d traded shifts with one of the other girls who owed me a favor and put up with the desperately sad crowd that wanted to eat breakfast surrounded by bored actors dressed up like extras from Grease, because this afternoon was important. This afternoon was my ticket out of the world of waitressing, even if that ticket only took me a few blocks down the road. No more poodle skirts, no more roller skates, no more children competing to see who can snort a milkshake through their nose, no more teenage boys leering at my cleavage until their eyes fell out. I mean, I was applying to work at a casino, so I was pretty much just trading those teenage stares in for a whole new set, courtesy of a horde of middle-aged middle-managers in from the Midwest for a convention on midsize sedans, but at least it was a change. My boobs were looking forward to the variety. So, there I was, sitting in a massive ballroom at the Grand Imperial with about four hundred other people, waiting for my name to be called. It was a nice ballroom, if nothing else, with real white linens on the tables and carpet that didn’t look like they stole the design from a Dixie cup in 1997. It ought to be nice, though, since the newspapers claimed that this place had cost over a billion dollars just to build, never mind the cost of buying out land on the Strip. All the more reason to get my foot in the door here. If this Robbie Mo guy that came in from Macau to set up the Grand Imperial had that kind of money to throw around, then there had to be a way for me to work my way up through the ranks to where I’d get some real cash. And no more roller skates. “Me-gall-nita… Rose-mario?” The call came at last and I sprang up, smiling as broadly as I knew how and ignoring the way the guy with the list butchered my name. They could call me Mud, for all I cared, so long as they got me away from Big Donny’s Roller-Diner. The first few rounds of the mass interview were easy, to be honest. Out of all those hundreds of people massed in the ballroom, the Grand Imperial people eliminated three hundred with a simple test as to whether or not they even knew how to play blackjack, let alone deal professionally. Most of them, apparently, couldn’t even count to twenty-one. I breezed through that round, and the two that came after it. I’d been slinging blackjack since I was eight, when my dad first set me down and made me help him practice counting cards. Carlos Rosario was a ‘professional’ gambler. Professional, in the sense that it was the only plan he ever had to make money and support his family, and ‘professional’ in the sense that he lost more than anybody I’ve ever seen, no matter how he tried to cheat. Anyway, dealing was easy. I threw in a few flippy bits, flicking aces from one knuckle to the other before returning them to the shuffle, and dancing the spread back and forth before snapping cards out to my nonexistent players. It was simple stuff that any idiot could learn on YouTube, but the interviewers ate it up, whispering to each other like sixth-grade girls. It was round four when everything got weird. My first clue that I’d merged onto the highway to the crazy zone was when a man in a black suit asked me to follow him. He was tall and blond, super hot in a ‘my sense of humor was surgically replaced with a third fist’ kind of way, and he escorted me into an elevator made of mirrors without ever saying more than three words at a time. All the previous rounds of the interview had been held in partitioned temporary rooms on one side of that huge ballroom, but apparently those of us who made it to the final round got to see a nicer bit of the Grand Imperial. That was what I thought on the elevator ride, anyway. I had no idea exactly how nice the bit I’d be seeing was until I stepped off on the 50th floor and felt my jaw drop so far that it should’ve hit the floor. Gold. Enough gold to make the Pope blush, enough gold to buy out the king of Spain, enough gold to...I don’t even know. There was nothing I could think of buying, nothing that I could even IMAGINE, that required that much money. It was a lot of freaking gold. Hot Security Guy frog-marched me through Versailles 2.0 like we were walking down a blank concrete hallway instead of something out of Liberace’s nightmares, before plopping me down opposite the final interviewer. He was Asian, probably Chinese or Japanese extraction, middle-aged and friendly-looking, like his face naturally wanted to smile. Bit of gray at his temples, bit of extra padding at the belly, but it all seemed to suit him, like he’d been destined to be that way since he was born. Somebody’s kindly grandpa, except he wasn’t old enough yet. He didn’t say much as I ran through my dealing routine, which didn’t exactly make me happy. A bead of sweat ran down the back of my neck the moment I picked up the deck set on the desk between us, a bead that turned into a river, that turned into Niagara Falls by the time I was done. I pulled out a few extra tricks at the end, flashy little flips that I wouldn’t usually dare try with anybody watching, even palmed a joker into the deck and spun it out face-up, but it was like trying to get blood from a stone. Friendly Grandpa’s smile never so much as twitched, for good or bad. Finally, I couldn’t take it. “Look, that’s what I’ve got,” I vented, cascading the deck back together and slapping it down on the desk. “If you’re looking for more...frankly, I don’t know who the hell you’re looking for. Four rounds of interviews, for a job dealing blackjack? That’s just stupid.” Uh oh. There it went, then. My chance to bust out of the land of pink poodle skirts and greaser jackets. Great job, Mika; all you had to do was keep your mouth shut and flip the cards, but you had to let your temper get the best of you. Then the interviewer finally spoke. “Do you know who I am, Miss Rosario?” I gulped. “My new boss?” I suggested lamely, mustering up my best plucky smile. “My name is Mo Ka-Fai,” he informed me, as I felt my blood turn to ice. “Most people around here call me Robbie.” Robbie...Mo... Robbie Mo. ROBBIE FREAKING MO. AKA the guy who owned the casino I was sitting in, plus half of the Mirage and who knew how many more in Macau. The news hadn’t stopped talking about how stupid rich he was since they first broke ground on the Grand Imperial. “Oh,” I squeaked. So I hadn’t just mouthed off at my interviewer and tanked my chances of getting the dealer job, I’d insulted a man who could literally blackball me from the entire city of Las Vegas if he felt like it. That was bad. “Sorry.” “I didn’t tell you that to spook you, Miss Rosario,” Mo announced, a sentiment that did nothing to unfreeze my spine or untwist my stomach. “That wasn’t the point. The point was to let you know that you are dealing with the person who makes decisions. A serious person. Somebody who is not in the business of making jokes or playing pranks. Is that clear to you?” I nodded like a bobblehead doll. He wasn’t telling me to leave, at least. That had to mean I was still in the running for the job...right? “Good,” he continued. “Jason, bring in the kittens.” He gestured over my shoulder towards Hot Security Guy, as I felt my brow knit in confusion. Had he just said...kittens? What? Lo and behold, the kittens were...actual cats. HSG disappeared behind a side door, only to reappear a moment later with a cardboard box full of mewing little fluffballs in at least a dozen colors, two or three tiny heads peeking above the lip to see what was happening. The box was deposited at my feet, whereupon two dozen curious eyes blinked up at me. “Um,” I managed, my eyebrows raised so far I felt like they were going to get lost in my hair. “What?” “Close your eyes and pick a kitten, please,” Mo requested. I just stared at him. “I am aware that it sounds absurd, Miss Rosario. But this will all make sense in a moment, if things are as I suspect.” I stared at him for another long moment, then shrugged. I liked cats just fine, and he still seemed to be considering me for the job, so...why not? Eyes closed tight, I leaned down and worked my hands into the pile of kittens. A few nips and playful scratches later, I managed to snag one of the fluffy little things and lift it up away from its siblings. I opened my eyes to see a pure black fuzzball sitting in my palms, staring at me with eyes as gold as the extravagant walls. He blinked a few times, looking around to see where the rest of his family had gone, then curled up with his tail over his eyes. Mo breathed in sharply, and whispered something in a language I didn’t know, eyes widening. “Black,” murmured Hot Security Guy. “It’s black.” “Yeah, I guess so,” I replied, exploring new depths of confusion. “Here, you want to hold him?” HSG backed away like I’d offered to shoot him in the kneecap. “N-no!” he yelped, then cleared his throat. “I mean, no thank you, Miss Rosario. Please continue the interview.” “The straws,” hissed Mo, as I turned back to him. “Bring the straws!” Jumping like he was scalded, HSG disappeared back into the side room and came back with a large, blue porcelain vase bristling with...were those drinking straws? They were. Long red plastic straws, like the ones that you got at the movie theater Slushee machine, with a little spoon on the end so you could scoop up the ice bits. There were tons of them packed into the vase, so tight they barely even rustled as Hot Security Guy placed it next to the kittens. “There are one thousand straws in that vase,” Mo told me, as if that weren’t an utterly bizarre thing to say. “Each one has a number printed on the end, one to one thousand. Do you understand?” I nodded again, scratching the black kitten’s head absently. I was this far into what was comfortably the strangest job interview of my entire life, no point arguing over a vase full of straws. “Good. Choose one, and read me the number, please.” Dutifully, I shifted my new fuzzy friend into my left hand while I reached down with my right and wormed a nail into the forest of straws. It had to be some kind of eccentric rich guy thing, testing people with kittens and straws before he hired them, I decided. “Thirteen,” I recited, reading off the tiny black number punched into the end of my straw. Hot Security Guy literally backpedalled away from me, while Mo looked like he’d seen a ghost. “Thirteen?” he breathed. “Are you certain? Out of one thousand straws, you picked thirteen?” “Yep,” I confirmed, laying the straw on the table for him. “One-three. That makes thirteen to me.” The kitten in my hand started to stretch and mew, pawing for the top of the desk and obviously yearning to explore. I lifted him up and let him clamber out of my palm, since Mo seemed more interested in staring at the little number on the straw than actually interviewing me. The one percent is freaking weird. “Right, Miss Rosario,” Mo finally breathed, shaking himself away from inspecting the straw and seeming to collect himself. “Right. Yes. Thank you for bearing with us. I have one more test for you.” This time, instead of sending Hot Security Guy to fetch, he reached into the drawer of his desk and produced an finely carved set of ivory dice in a plush black velvet box. “Roll them, please.” I didn’t move. “I’d rather not,” I hedged. “I deal cards. I don’t gamble.” That was my rule. Ever since I was eleven, ever since I’d watched my father walk out of the house with all the money we’d saved for my mom’s chemo and come back with empty hands, that had been the rule. I don’t gamble. Ever. “I am not asking you to gamble, Miss Rosario,” Mo countered. “There is no money on the table. Just the dice. Roll them, please.” My jaw locked up and my fingernails bit into my palm, but I forced myself to reach for the dice. There was no way I was going to avoid ever touching a set, if I intended to work in a casino. And Mo was technically right; I wasn’t betting on anything and there was no money at stake, so it wouldn’t be gambling. Just a roll of the dice. Breath caught in my throat, I picked up the dice, shook them once, and then dropped them like a poisonous snake. A brief clatter, and then they came to rest, one pip glinting from each face. One and one. Snake eyes. “Two,” breathed HSG. “She rolled a two. She actually rolled a-!” “Quiet, Jason,” Mo snapped. “Again, if you please, Miss Rosario.” He collected the dice and passed them back across the desk to me. The corner of my lip twisted in distaste, but I nevertheless accepted them, shook, and cast. Two pips stared back at me. Snake eyes, just like before. “Again.” Take, shake, roll. Two pips. Snake eyes. “Okay, what the hell is going on?” I demanded. “First you make me go bobbing for kittens and pick out a Slushee straw, and now you’re making me roll a loaded pair of dice? Does this have anything to do with me dealing blackjack?” “The dice are not loaded,” Mo stated, grandfatherly smile all but gone, now. “Inspect them yourself. And then roll, again.” I retrieved the dice and rolled them through my fingers, weighing them against each other, and then froze. An electric tingle ran up my spine and down to my fingers, as I realized that Mo was on the level. I knew what trick dice felt like in my hand; my dad had made me test out the sets he carved in our garage. These were legit. Which meant… I rolled the dice, flinging them hard against the table. One spun like a top, fluttering about before finally tipping over with one pip to the sky. The other skated across the desk, nearly colliding with the adventuring kitten, and flew off onto the floor. Where it landed with one pip showing. Snake eyes. “Again.” Beginning to feel extremely freaked out, I did as Mo asked, taking a new pair of dice from him and casting them across the desk. Two pips. Snake eyes. “Again.” My hand shook all on its own this time, barely steady enough to hold both dice together. They toppled away from me, less a cast, and more a drop. It didn’t matter. Twp pips glinted in the light, reflecting the golden ornamentation. Snake eyes. “Again.” Again, and again, and again. Over and over, Mo made me roll the dice, and every time the result was the same: two pips. Twenty times in a row, I rolled snake eyes. Which was, mathematically speaking, almost impossible. “What the hell is going on?” I asked again, but this time I really, truly meant it. My voice was barely a squeak, choked by an iron bar lodged in my throat. “What does this mean?” “It means, Miss Rosario, that you are the unluckiest person alive.” I blinked. Even in the grip of an utter and complete confusion, I had enough of my mother’s pride left in me to be insulted. “Excuse me?” “Oh, I mean that very literally,” Mo said, standing up from his desk and sharply correcting his suit jacket. “You, Miguelita Hortensia Maria Francisca de Toledo Rosario Vasquez, are the most unlucky human being on the planet. And that makes you extremely dangerous.” “Dangerous?” I spluttered. “What do you mean, dangerous? How am I-?” “We do not have time for me to answer that question,” Mo interrupted, gesturing for her to stand. “Suffice it to say that there are those of us who play probability and odds like a musician plays his instrument. And we’ve been looking for you, Miss Rosario. Looking for you for quite some time.” I opened my mouth to demand more than that, or maybe to just sputter in wild confusion, but Mo steamrolled over me. “Jason, call ahead to the helipad and tell them to spin up the chopper,” he ordered tersely, glancing to Hot Security Guy. “I want to be wheels up in fifteen minutes. We need to go, now.” “Go?!” I snapped, finally untangling my tongue. “Go where?” “To meet with Lady Luck.”
Which casinos have shuttles from l.a, orange, riverside, SB, SD or imperial counties?
I know about morongo, fantasy and pala so far. On the pala one now for a cheap ride to San Diego via Escondido but the spitting on the floor and people reclining to the point where a 5'10 person has no room, makes me grateful it's not a long trip.
[End of Dragons] Ideas for 9 new Canthan elite specializations
Few new elite specialization ideas for the Canthan expansion, with no new weapon types involved:
Elementalist: Skyfire
Gain Elemental Enchantments and Weapon Swap instead of Elemental Attunements. Every time you use an individual weapon skill, it will automatically swap itself to the next element, using the cooldown of the previous skill. Use an elemental enchantment to refresh those cooldowns and force all your weapon skills to channel the same element at once. By default, the order followed by the automatic swap sequence is fire, water, wind, earth, and then fire again. This order can be customized through traits. Glyphs and traits relying on active attunements will use the active element of the fifth weapon skill as the reference instead.
You can wield the Longbow weapon in combat. All five longbow skills work as chain skills, giving them good synergy with the elemental enchantments mechanic.
Gain access to Mantra slot skills. Just like weapon skills, mantras gain different effects depending on their active element, which swaps automatically with every use.
Mesmer: Trickster
Gain Spectres instead of Clones. Spectres are weaker than clones, but replicate themselves on destruction, reducing their size and power. A normal spectre will spawn two medium spectres, a medium spectre will spawn two small spectres, and a small spectre won't replicate any further. Shatter skills affect all spectres no matter their size, adjusting their strength to the size of each shattered spectre.
You can wield the Shortbow weapon in combat. All five shortbow skills work as channeled skills, employing multiple consecutive projectiles at once. Each of these projectiles is weaker individually, but their combined effect has the same strength as any common ranged weapon. When all the projectiles hit their target, the strength of the combined effects double.
Gain access to Shout slot skills. Shout effects are divided in three phases, each triggered by one of the three spectre sizes. The first phase is triggered by the mesmer and normal spectres, the second by medium spectres, and the third by small spectres. Completing the three phases will unlock an additional fourth effect, triggered by all spectres at once. Shouts are inspired by Canthan poetry, each phase covering one out of four verses.
Necromancer: Apothecary
Gain Plague Bomb, Toxic Pollen, Afflicted Miasma, Scarab Spore, and Plague Shroud instead of Death Shroud. Plague Bomb throws an explosive to the target area. Toxic Pollen, Afflicted Miasma, and Scarab Spore work as enchancements for your bombs. Activate and combine them to modify the effects of your plague bomb, leading to a total of eight possible combinations. Plague Shroud turns the necromancer into a walking combo field. All plague skills consume life force.
You can wield the Pistol weapons in combat. Pistol skills gain additional effects depending on the active plague enhancements.
Gain access to Elixir slot skills. Elixirs work as ammunition skills, consume their charges sparingly to gain various passive effects, or consume them all at once to induce a frontal area of effect vomit attack.
Engineer: Dreadnought
Gain Dreadnought Suit and Phase Shield instead of tool belt skill five. Activate the Dreadnought Suit to drive your own combat armor, gaining alternate tool belt and weapon skills for all your engineering kits. Phase Shield will replace your endurance bar while the dreadnought suit is active, sacrificing dodge rolling in exchange of a bonus health bar.
You can wield the Mace weapons in combat. Mace skills are inspired by the core engineer Tool Kit utility skill, which has been removed and replaced by a new gadget elite skill. Additionally, maces are not exclusive for the dreadnought elite specialization, and once unlocked can be used by the core profession and any other elite specializations as well.
Gain access to one new healingengineering kit, one new utilitygadget, one new utility elixir, one new utility engineering kit, one new utility turret, and one new elite engineering kit. These new slot skills are exclusive for the dreadnought elite specialization.
Ranger: Bulwark
Gain Pet Focus instead of Pet Swap. Both pets are deployed in combat simultaneously, pet focus letting you command the beast skills of one pet at a time.
You can wield the Shield weapon in combat. The fifth weapon skill turns defensive mode on and off, reducing your movement speed in exchange of alternate weapon skills. This affects the fourth shield skill, as well as all three skills from main-hand axe, main-hand spear, and main-hand sword.
Gain access to Venom slot skills. Venom effects are applied to the ranger, both pets, and up to four other nearby allies. Once used against a target enemy, their negative effects stack, increasing their strength the more hits the target receives.
Gain Shadow Blade and Shadow Strike instead of Steal. Shadow Blade summons an exact copy of the thief, with half the attributes and health. This shadow blade companion will follow the thief for ten seconds, mimicking all of his actions within a delay of two seconds. Shadow Strike commands the companion to shadowstep to the target foe and gain a stolen skill.
You can wield the Greatsword weapon in combat. The first weapon skill has five chain steps instead of the usual three. Weapon skills two to five gain stronger effects the further the chain progresses, and will not interrupt it when used. Successful hits by the shadow blade will count as a step forward for any chains on progress, greatsword or not.
Gain access to Stance slot skills. Stance effects are applied simultaneously to both the thief and the shadow blade.
Guardian: Spiritcaller
Gain Virtue Attunement instead of Virtue Activation, Just was Xun Rao instead of Virtue of Justice, Resolute was Reiko instead of Virtue of Resolve, and Courageous was Ashu instead of Virtue of Courage. Attune to a virtue to strengthen its passive effect, disabling the effects of the other two virtues in the process.
You can wield the Warhorn weapon in combat. The warhorn gains alternate weapon skills depending on the active attunement.
Gain access to Spirit slot skills. Just like warhorn skills, spirits gain different effects depending on the active attunement.
Revenant: Windwalker
Gain Wind Walk instead of dodge rolling. Hold the dodge key to dash instead of dodging, dash distance increasing the longer you hold down.
You can wield the Greatsword weapon in combat. Weapon skills two to five work as charge skills, gaining stronger effects the longer you hold down. Wind Walk does not cancel charge skills, giving it good synergy with greatsword skills.
Invoke the power of the legendary tengu windwalker, Tsuru Whitewing, and gain access to Legendary Windwalker slot skills. All five windwalker skills depict famous tengu paintings, representing different events across tengu history. Skills six to nine represent how each of the four tengu houses came to be, in turn inspired by the four winds. The elite skill, "The Great Wave off Shing Jea", represents the Great Tsunami itself, and the culmination of the tengu journey.
Warrior: Thunderlord
Gain Thunder Bell instead of Burst weapon levels 2 and 3. Thunder Bell summons a mystical cannon bundle, which can alternate between ranged and melee modes through weapon swap. Carry it on your left shoulder to fire thunderbolts against your enemies, or use both hands to wield it as a blunt weapon and crush them at close combat. Thunder Bell is considered a level 2 burst skill, and once activated, both the ranged and melee versions will replace the previous weapon bursts with their own level 3 burst skills.
You can wield the Staff weapon in combat. Weapon skills two to five work as sequence skills, unlocking additional skills on successful hits.
Gain access to Preparation slot skills. Preparations gain stronger effects depending on individual adrenaline thresholds.
Some lore tidbits, for those interested:
Elementalist - Skyfire: Ancient naga battlemages, brought back from the dead as the frozen waters of the Jade Sea brim with life once again. Horrorized at the woes of the modern world, they gather the Luxon clans and the kappa tribes for war.
Mesmer - Trickster: Members of the Jade Sisterhood, they run the brothels, casinos, and theatres of Kaineng City. They specialize on blackmail, bribery, and deception. Their influence seeps deep into the Canthan aristocracy, making them impervious to the law.
Necromancer - Apothecary: Cultists of the Am Fah, self-proclaimed freedom fighters for the lower classes and lesser races of the empire. They will stop at nothing to overthrow the emperor, resorting to biological terrorism if necessary. After all, they can always blame the Celestial Ministry.
Engineer - Dreadnought: The noble men and women who drive the war machines of the empire, their combat armors admired and feared by allies and enemies alike. Rumor says their cannons are powered by the spirits of ancient deities, imprisoned by the dark sorcerers of the empire.
Ranger - Bulwark: Elusive beastmasters of the sidhe race, renown wardens of the Echovald Forest. Driven crazy after the Jade Wind, few survived to regain their sanity. As the Kurzick rebels and their dredge allies expand carelessly across the forest, conflict will once again be inevitable.
Thief - Shadowblade: Assassins of the Obsidian Flame, gone rogue after the guild was disbanded by the Celestial Ministry. They wage a secret war against the empire's corruption, supported from the inside by the remaining loyalist factions. Their numbers are thin, but their resolve unshakeable.
Guardian - Spiritcaller: Forefront of the Celestial Ministry, guardians of tradition, followers of the old ways, and the last remaining ritualists of Cantha. Mouthpieces for the imperial propaganda, they channel the echoes of the fallen heroes of the empire, binding the spirits of criminals to their service.
Revenant - Windwalker: Elite tengu bodyguards and executioners, they pay for the crimes of their Sensali ancestors with lifetime service and utmost devotion to the human imperial throne, deeming their brothers beyond the sea as nothing but despicable traitors.
Warrior - Thunderlord: Warrior monks of the Sai Ling Order, they commune with the Great Celestials to channel their might, embarking on quests across the countryside in search of deeper enlightenment, vowing to, one day, become Closer to the Stars.
Bonus: New weapon types
Few new weapon type ideas, for a total of 18 ground weapons:
Bow: The Longbow and the Shortbow have been merged back into one single weapon type. The ranger is the only profession who can use both weapons, so his shortbow skills will be transformed into dagger skills, and his original dagger skills will be transformed into knuckles skills.
As part of a new player experience, each core profession would unlock some of the old and new weapon types for free, without any elite specialization requirements:
Elementalist: Greatsword, Polearm.
Mesmer: Pistol (main-hand), Warhorn.
Necromancer: Axe (off-hand), Polearm.
Engineer: Scepter, Knuckles (main-hand and off-hand), Focus.
Ranger: Spear.
Thief: Spear, Knuckles (main-hand and off-hand).
Guardian: Spear.
Revenant: Axe (main-hand), Mace (off-hand), Knuckles (main-hand and off-hand).
Warrior: Polearm.
Further unlocks would become possible through either new elite specializations or additional updates to the core professions. Note that this section is independent from the new elite specialization ideas. Had these gathering dust for quite a while now, figured I'd rewrite and post them. Hope you liked the read! EDIT:Same thread at the official forums.
In the past, Chris Hedges has forecast the fall of America by 2030. Perhaps, perhaps not. Almost undoubtedly there will be a United States of America come January 1st, 2030 -- barring some nuclear holocaust. But what it is has been so hollowed out by decades of grift and corporate self-interest, it will be about as recognizable as Imperial Rome was to the Roman Republic. Institutional forms merely carried forward as but a facade. But it has become clear to me 2020 has been America's last great Hurrah. By Hurrah, I mean the artificial propping up of the stock market and the upper middle class crowded around it like an enclave of apes around a monolith they worship but fundamentally don't understand, entranced to madness while the elites pull the levers of the enigmatic machine. What started as an actual economic tool, had been transformed into a retirement fund like houses for a privileged generation or two, and now is merely a casino where the house always wins -- although the ones playing seem wholly oblivious to the fact unlike in Las Vegas. Others are cheering on Joe Biden as the next savior, much as Obama should have been. His cabinet picks show a man trying to reconstruct 2016 BAU. The man himself seems primed to be the next Jimmy Carter. For those too young to remember, that nice guy was as useful as using cat's whiskers to push a car. Mr President-Elect is a gerontocrat from another era well past his prime, the boomer's last gasp and grasp at maintaining power. It's already quite evident his administration will likely be run by teams of underlings in a multi-sided tug of war with each other, no one at the helm. This is not unique, Reagan was somewhat the same way and before him Woodrow Wilson after a stroke. But the illusion of the President being someone with his hand on the wheel was maintained, who knows what will occur when that public perception is shattered? Weekend at Bernies was fun and games when it was a random rich guy that had no fundamental power over a nation. Today I was at possibly the last institution of American greatness, one thing most citizen's loved and could agree on. The Post Office. Established by Ben Franklin. Semi-privatized by Reagan. Stifled by Congress. Stopped neither by snow, rain, heat nor gloom of night -- it has finally been brought to its knees these last six months. Not Corona. But by a Trump desperate to win an election and decades long Republican yearning to privatize yet another public service, one that is largely self-funded but to a small fraction of what it costs to keep the military. Avowed corporatists dreaming of bringing the "free market" to streamline and inevitably force private monopolized pricing, especially on rural America. Elderly with drugs. Those running small businesses. Communities out in boondocks that will never get UPS/Fedex service, the PO being their single lifeline out into the greater world. America's last great institution has fallen. Sorting machines scrapped. Its upper tier fired or shuffled. Immense delays never seen in the past so systematically. Corona conveniently blamed. The regionalism of the Hunger Games was an inspired bit of foreshadowing from fiction to where we're headed in the near future. In all likelihood, an increasingly autocratic North-East Corridor tail wagging the rest of the dog just as Goldman Sachs & Friends dictated $9T bailout the NYSE casino. No ideology is at play, nor any greater political theory other than The Rich Make the Rules, So Let the Rich Get Richer. Merely through disparate wealth and power and connections. In a sense, America has always centered this way regionally dating from the original Colonies and cemented in the 19th Century. It's just merely never been explicitly formalized. Decades from now, when people ask when the peak of the US came and some may expect to hear 2020 or 2030ish perhaps. Corona or some other clear delineation like the fall of the Berlin Wall may exist. But those are just visual symptoms. The actual answer by most metrics will be 1945 and the immediate postwar. A result of a culmination of moves from early 19th Century towards hemispherical hegemony and empire. The rest of the industrialized world devastated, it served as uncontested factory and Superpower to the world. Exports were at max. Unemployment was low, wages were high. Its Universities had been bolstered by Europe's top talent since the early 1930s. It had exclusive access to the Atom Bomb. And was at the very cusp of computing which would pay major dividends later. By most metrics, America dominated everyone else. "Hard times create strong men, strong men create good times, good times create weak men, and weak men create hard times.” What we have left is just an afterimage placed over a husk that hasn't been dispelled quite yet. Like a major corporate stock too many bet on long after the company has slumped in reality because they remember the good times which feeds their hopium. YHOO. Sears. USA. Company or nation, the story of once-dominant interests mostly repeat as human nature stays the same. Enjoy your 2021. A delirious "Return to the Mean" will be the main theme in most people's minds. Use that tidbit as you wish.
If you were a Script Doctor for Star Wars, what would you change?
One of my best memories of Star Wars when I was a kid was getting together with other Star Wars fans and envisioning what we would do to help fix our personal issues with the most recent Star Wars movie we saw (it was the prequels). I remember great discussions about it and to be honest it's one of the things I miss most. I have tried to have conversations about it on other Star Wars forums only to be shot down, and belittled. However, I would like to try again here and have a great discussion with you guys. A few years ago I came across "What if "Star Wars" was Good?" on youtube and it really hit me to what I was missing. Even though I didn't always agree with what he was saying I really missed that sort of energy and enthusism in fandom. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VgICnbC2-_Y The only rules are: 1) No calling out creatives, they don't matter to the discussion. 2) No complete rewrites, just altering what is needed to improve the story/get the point of the story across. 3) Keep everything Star Wars I will start it off with what I would do with The Last Jedi, I would love to hear your thoughts on my chances but also your lists for any Star Wars movie. So here it is: Star Wars The Last Jedi Script Notes (by me) (Sorry for the long list)
After Leia reams out Poe for his attack on the Dreadnought, we have a scene of Poe and Ackbar. Ackbar mentors him and tells him where he went right and where he went wrong and how his improper use of the ships leading to too many deaths
Ackbar doesn't berate but teaches and wants Poe to take up the military reigns since he is getting old
Leia is killed in the bombing of the bridge but Ackbar survives and is in the coma instead
(NOTE: this change is a last minute change that should have been called for after the untimely death of Carrie Fisher)
Ben brutally murders his wing men who fired the missiles killing Leia
Ben spends the movie conflicted. The "kill the past" message is really him trying to convince himself that he is doing the right thing/is a true Sith
Admiral Holdo should have a uniform, she rubs Poe and most of the crew the wrong way
Everyone knows the only way to track a ship so accurately in hyperspace is an implanted tracker
Everyone believes there is a tratior onboard
Two factions start to form around Poe and Holdo, each believing the other is the spy
Finn is force sensitive, not strongly and he wouldn't pass padawan but since he faced his "trial" of rejecting the First Order and returning to face it he is steeped in the light side
After some minor, unintended force usage through the movie, Finn meets Luke at the end to train
No techno babble between Finn and Rose, Poe sends them on a fuel run as a back up plan (trying to take Ackbar's advice and see the big picture)
Maz sends them to the nearest planet (Canto Bight) that has a contact who could help them
DJ is a New Republic agent (not a code breaker), he is busy tracking an Imperial Remanent General who has been funneling money/tech to the First Order through the casino
DJ is busy, doesn't want to help, his mission is to find a secret new tech that is going to the First Order that would be the end to any New Republic resistance
Finn and Rose offer to help if in return he helps them get fuel for the fleet
Reuse the Super Star Destroyer infiltration scenes but instead it's a secret lab under the casino
DJ and Finn set charges, Roses wipes the computer banks
Rose finds the plans to a subspace tracker, puts two and two together and realize that more fuel is pointless if they can be traced anywhere they go
Rose learns that the subspace tracker works by leaving a "periscope" sensor permanently in subspace: a potential weakness
(CREDIT to a reddit thread who proposed this)
Rey meets Luke
Luke thanks her for his father's lightsaber but asks her to leave
He doesn't want to train her since he can't trust himself to (similar to Obi-wan's failure to train Anakin)
Luke doesn't know why he lost control and tried to attack Ben
He felt his actions were not his own, that something was inside of him and wanted something from Ben (foreshadowing it was Palpintine trapped inside Luke since the second Death Star and wants to take over Ben, which is why Palpintine wanted Luke to strike him down and give into his hate: Palpintine can only take over a powerful darkside user (Darth Vader is half machine so not useful to Palpintine)
Luke senses Rey's great and growing power and is scared that she has been using the darkside to leapfrog in power (her past is dark from being abandoned and could be affecting her), she needs to slow down
Rey after communicating with Ben, is taunted to come to save the fleet and disregards Luke's warning
Finn, Rose and DJ returns to the Fleet with the information but no fuel
Poe and Holdo's conflict is reaching it's peak (The "who done it" has now turned into a stand off)
Finn finds Ackbar coming out of his coma
Ackbar disarms the onboard conflict
Rose reviles subspace tracker information
Holdo reveils her plan to evac to the planet as they pass
Snoke orders Ben to subdo Rey when she comes (he forsees it)
Snoke drops hints to an old rival is returning (Ben thinks it's Luke but Snoke is actually talking about Palpintine). Belittles Ben, alludes that he would be nothing without him
Rey goes to the Super Star Destroyer
Throne room scene is the same, except Rey doesn't reject Ben's pitch to the darkside but is interrupted by the Holdo manoeuver (building for the next movie)
The evac shuttles didn't fool Snoke and are shot at
Holdo using the information of the subspace periscope to form a plan and kamakize the Super Star Destroyer
Poe leads the landspeeder attack on the First Order walkers
Learning from Ackbar he orders everyone to pull back since it is hopeless
Finn continues in an attempt to scarifice himself to stop the weapon
He is shot down before he could: Failing
The weapon is destroyed by proton torpedoes as Luke and a half dozen other X-wings respond to the Resistance's call for help but not before the wall is breached
The Falcon and another transport (Possibly piloted by Lando) evac the crew
(No matter what state Luke or even Lando is in, they wouldn't ignore a call for help from friends)
Luke is shot down, Finn gets to the crash and unwittingly uses his force powers to free Luke (introduces Luke to the rest of the new cast)
Luke and Ben have their show down
Luke is toying with him to buy time for the evac
Luke and Ben confront each other, Luke tries to explain what happened or what he thinks happened but Ben is too angry
Luke is ready to die to convince Ben but Rey comes to pulls him out at the last moment
The movie ends with a makeshift funeral on the Falcon for Leia
Would these changes make a difference to the quality of the story? Give a direction for the characters? Or would it still have been a great/bad movie with or without any changes?
The Fall were a group from Manchester founded by the enigmatic Mark E. Smith in 1976, after seeing the Sex Pistols at the Lesser Free Trade Hall. The group would go on to influence many bands over it's 40+ years of existence, such as Pavement and LCD Soundsystem. (Click link for write up on band)
The Fall was founded by one Mark E. Smith back in 1976, after seeing the Sex Pistols at the Lesser Free Trade Hall (The same gig attended by Ian Curtis and Peter Hook of Joy Division, Morrissey of the Smiths, and Tony Wilson, who founded the highly influential indie label Factory Records. Basically, Mark was at one of the more important gigs of the past 50 years, as this gig inspired all of those previously mentioned to either start bands or get involved in the punk scene, and changing the course of British indie music.). Over their 40+ years of operation, the band had Mark E. Smith at its helm as the sole constant member throughout it's existence. The band would become known for its classic assortment of records, with the tight musicianship by members such as guitarist Craig Scanlon and drummer Karl Burns (shown in the beginning of this clip from MTV's Cutting Edge) and Mark's esoteric lyricism, the witty, while often-times volatile and difficult, personality of Mark E. Smith, and the constant changing lineup of its members as a result of Mark's volatility. They would also remain to be the favorite band of legendary DJ John Peel, with the band holding the record of the most Peel sessions by a band, which is 24 sessions. The Fall would ultimately come to an end with the untimely death of Mark E. Smith in 2018 due to kidney and lung cancer. The Fall are a significant band in the history of Post Punk, with a wide catalog of music to listen to released throughout the different eras of the band. I have decided to make a write-up going through the many eras of the Fall, while giving some recommendations from each era to start you off. (1976 - early 1979 - Early Beginnings: The Martin Bramah Era) during these years, the Fall were just getting their start with their sound. Their early material leans more towards the punk side of the sword rather than the post punk of their later years, but the embryo of the Fall's sound is clearly present. This can possibly be attributed to the guitar style of Martin Bramah in their early releases, which has a high pitched and trebly sound to the guitars. Their first recorded released came on a live album on the last day of operation for the Electric Circus, then they released their debut EP Bingo Master's Breakout then a single called It's The New Thing all in 1978. They finally released their debut album Live at the Witch Trials in March 1979 before Martin Bramah left in April 1979 due to increasing tensions with Mark E. Smith. He would then go on to found a band by the name of Blue Orchids with another former Fall member Una Baines, who he was dating at the time. Martin would prove to not be the only member to leave because of Mark's controlling demeanor in the band's future. Here's some tracks to introduce you to this era's punky edge: Last Orders Bingo Master's Breakout EP (The entire EP's good to check out) It's The New Thing Rebellious Jukebox Futures and Pasts Mother-Sister (mid 1979 - 1982 - The First Golden era: the Marc Riley Era) I'm calling this the Marc Riley era because, even though Marc Riley was a part of the Bramah era, after Martin Bramah left, Riley would become the main guitarist instead of his previous role as bassist. This would open the door for members like Craig Scanlon to join on rhythm guitar and Steve Hanley on bass. This would end up transforming the sound of the band into the post-punk sound most people are familiar with the band. After releasing Rowche Rumble and the album Dragnet in 1979, the band would end up releasing a string of classic singles in 1980, such as Fiery Jack, How I Wrote Elastic Man, and probably their most well-known song, Totally Wired, as well as releasing the great album Grotesque (After the Gramme). 1981 would also prove to be a good year, with the release of the single Lie Dream of a Casino Soul and the 10-inch EP Slates. The band would end up travelling to Iceland for a string of gigs, which would lead to the recording of some songs for probably their best album Hex Enduction Hour, with tracks like Hip Priest and The Classical displaying the Fall's power in full force. The band would also released the album Room To Live and the single Look, Know. However, this year would prove to be the last with Marc Riley on lead guitar. After learning of their chart success in New Zealand (which was about 300 copies sold to get in the top 20), the band travelled there to play a few gigs in Australia and New Zealand. While there, increasing tensions between Smith and Riley came to a head in Australia when Riley punched Smith in the face for slapping the band for dancing to the Clash (yes, really). There is even a television interview where Mark's black eye is visible (even with heavy makeup). This tour would end up being released as a live album by the legendary New Zealand label Flying Nun Records as the album Fall in a Hole in 1983 (Which Smith would eventually threaten legal action for and forced Flying Nun to pay all of the revenue from the record, effectively almost killing Flying Nun in its infancy). Marc would end up being sacked by the end of the year. This left a hole to be filled for the lead guitar role, and that would be filled after a trip to America. Here's some tracks to check out to introduce you to the classic Fall sound: Rowche Rumble How I Wrote Elastic Man Totally Wired New Face in Hell Prole Art Threat Lie Dream of a Casino Soul Hip Priest The Classical (N-Word Warning) Iceland Winter Marquis Cha-Cha (1983 - 1989 - The Second Golden era: The Brix Smith Era) The band would soldier on without Marc Riley into 1983, with Craig Scanlon taking his place on lead guitar. This period would lead to the release of singles like The Man Whose Head Expanded and the Kicker Conspiracy EP. During the Fall's first American tour without Marc Riley, Mark E Smith was introduced to Brix Smith after a gig in Chicago in April. Within three months, Brix would move to England and end up marrying Mark. She would eventually join the band in September of that year and would first appear on their album Perverted by Language, albeit with minimal involvement and only appearing on one track. Her introduction to the band would end up bringing a pop sensibility to the band, as she would eventually become a major songwriting contributor along with Mark and she would try and push the Fall into a more commercially viable direction. This period would lead to some of the band's most critically acclaimed,as well as their most commerically successful, material. early singles like C.R.E.E.P and Oh! Brother in 1984 display the early shift into the pop sphere for the band. The band would also release the album The Wonderful and Frightening World Of in 1984. By 1985, the band were starting to hit their stride in the commercial sphere, with singles like Cruiser's Creek and Couldn't Get Ahead appearing in the singles charts and the great album This Nation's Saving Grace receiving critical acclaim and decent sales. The band would continue to release increasingly pop-oriented records between 1986-1987, with singles like Mr. Pharmacist, Hit the North and Hey! Luciani reaching the lower ends of the charts, There's a Ghost In My House giving the band their highest singles chart peak, and the album Bend Sinister reaching the Top 40. However, 1988 would prove to be a banner year for the band, with the album The Frenz Experiment reaching the top 20, and the single of the Kinks song Victoria also reaching the top 40. However, this era would eventually come to an end in 1989, when Mark E Smith and Brix Smith ended up divorcing and Brix left the band. Her last record in this era would prove to be the album I am Kurious Oranj, a collaboration with the Michael Clark dance group. However, the trajectory that Brix set the band upon would let their success continue into the 90s, With the band eventually reaching their peak in commercial popularity. However, not all good things are meant to last. Here's some songs to check out to introduce you to this era's pop-leaning sound: The Man Whose Head Expanded Kicker Conspiracy Eat Y'self Fitter C.R.E.E.P 2 X 4 Cruiser's Creek No Bulbs Spoilt Victorian Child My New House I am Damo Suzuki Shoulder Pads #1 Mr. Pharmacist Hey! Luciani There's a Ghost in my House Hit The North Victoria Big New Prinz Dead Beat Descendant (1990 - 1994 - The Peak, followed by the Fall: The Major Label years) After Brix left the band, Martin Bramah was brought back into the fold to fill in her place, and would be featured on the album Extricate, which led to songs like Telephone Thing, which shows influence from the Madchester scene of that time period, which included the Stone Roses and the Happy Mondays, and the love song Bill is Dead, which possibly reflects upon his divorce the previous year. However, Martin Bramah would not be staying for long, as he would end up being kicked out of the band that same year for having a relationship with the keyboardist. This album marked the period when the band would be featured on a major label, with the band being signed to Fontana. The Fall would continue on to have success during this period, with the aforementioned Extricate reaching the top 40, albums like Shift-Work and Code: Selfish reaching the top 30, and singles like White Lightning and Free Range reaching in the single charts, with Free Range being the bands last top 40 single. Their commercial peak would come with the album The Infotainment Scan, which contained a cover of Lost in Music by Sister Sledge, giving the Fall their first and only top 10 hit album. Mark would also be featured on a top 20 single, which was I Want You by the Inspiral Carpets. However, Mark E. Smith's speed and alcohol addiction, which persisted over the previous decade, started to take its toll. The bands fortunes started to dwindle with the album Middle Class Revolt, Which only reach number 48 in the charts, a far cry from their previous Top 10 success. With this album, the Fall would begin to go downhill, both in their commercial performance and their critical stature. Here's some songs to check out from this banner period for the Fall: Telephone Thing I'm Frank Bill is Dead Edinburgh Man Free Range Lost in Music Hey! Student 15 Ways (1995-1998 - The Low Point: The Brownies Years) By this point, Mark E. Smith begins to go downhill with the previously mentioned drug and alcohol addiction, and its effect on the music shows. Brix Smith returns around this time period and would come back on the album Cerebral Caustic. Even with her involvement in the band, the album got middling reviews and performed worse than Middle Class Revolt. Smith would also dismiss the long time guitarist Craig Scanlon, who had co-written 120 songs with Smith over the previous 16 years. Smith would later say that he regretted this decision. By the time of The Light User Syndrome, Brix had enough of Mark E. Smith's degrading state and behavior due to alcohol abuse, and would leave on the tour supporting this album. This period would be wrought with increasing tensions in the band and financial troubles, which ultimately came to a head on the US tour supporting the album Levitate at an infamous gig at the New York venue Brownies in April of 1998. Smith ended up appearing drunk at the gig, and did everything in his power to make it hard for the band to play. It came to a head when drummer Karl Burns, who returned to the band when Middle Class Revolt was made, ended up shoving Smith for messing with his drum kit. Burns and long-time/essential bassist Steve Hanley would end up leaving the band and never returning. After this gig, the next few years are marked with the band remaining a low profile for the most part, where would eventually return to form by 2003. Here's some tracks to check out (if you want to) from this era: Don't Call me Darling Rainmaster D.I.Y Meat The Chiselers Powder Keg Masquerade (1998 - 2002 - Touch Sensitive: The Long Lull) During this period of the Fall, the band was just starting to be put back together by Mark after the debacle that was the Brownies gig. The band was able to achieve some form of critical favor with their album The Marshall Suite in 1999, with Touch Sensitive being a particular standout on the album and being featured in a Volkswagen commercial. The band would then release their album The Unutterable, which also started to gain the critic's favor back. The next album Are You Are Missing Winner, however, didn't do the band any favors, as it was recorded when the band was tight on funds. It was considered a misstep by the Fall after the acclaim that the last album received. However, this would ultimately lead to the start of a new era of the fall that would effectively renew their relevance as a band in the public's eye. Here's some tracks to check out from this transitional period of the bands history: Touch Sensitive W.B Sons of Temperance Dr. Bucks Letter Bourgeois Town (2003 - 2009 - A return to grace: The Third Golden Age) This era of the fall proved to be a rebirthing of the band's relevance and quality, with Mark writing some of the best material the band had in years. This era starts with the album The Real New Fall LP (Formerly Country on the Click) in 2003, which provided the band with some late era classics, such as Mountain Energei and Theme From Sparta F.C. Around this period, the DJ John Peel, who was one of the band's biggest supporters from the beginning, died of a heart attack, but not before the Fall could release one more Peel session a couple months before his death. The Fall would then release Fall Heads Roll in 2005, which also provided the band with another late-era classic in the form of Blindness. The band would also release albums like Reformation Post TLC and Imperial Wax Solvent within the same period. Imperial Wax Solvent would end up being the first Fall album in 15 years to reach the top 40. This would lead into the final era of the Fall leading up to Mark E. Smith's untimely death. Here's some tracks to check out from this era: Mountain Energei Theme From Sparta F.C. Blindness Clasp Hands Fall Sound Latchkey Kid Is This New Strange Town (2010 - 2018 - The Witching Hour: The Domino and Cherry Red/final years) In 2010, the Fall would release Your Future Our Clutter on Domino Records, the same label that releases records by the Arctic Monkeys and Franz Ferdinand, Two bands heavily influenced by the Fall. Mark E. Smith would also end up recording vocals for Glitter Freeze on the Gorillaz album Plastic Beach, which was released in 2010. The band would eventually move to Cherry Red records, which would remain the label of the band until its dissolution. On Cherry Red, the Fall would release album such as Ersatz GB, Re-Mit, Sub-Lingual Tablet, and New Facts Emerge. The latter album would prove to be the band's last record. Over this period, Mark began to develop significant health problems, and would eventually be diagnosed with terminal lung and kidney cancer. This is probably due to the fact that Mark E. Smith was a heavy smoker for most of his life, and his previous problems with drugs and alcohol didn't help either. Mark would perform his final gig with the Fall in November of 2017, and would eventually succumb to his illnesses on January 24th, 2018. Mark E. Smith would leave behind a long history of innovation, wit, and volatility and large catalog of great music for others to be inspired by. Here's some tracks to check out from the final era of the Fall: Bury Pts. 2 + 4 Nate Will Not Return Loadstones Fibre Book Troll New Facts Emerge (Final Remarks) So that's my write-up for the Fall. I discovered this band about 3-4 years ago and I have fallen in love with them ever since, and I just felt like that they deserved some attention. I wrote this post for anyone who may be interested in checking out the band and giving them a place to start from no matter the era. May Mark E. Smith rest in peace, for he wrote "Northern white crap that talks back" and dug repetition. P.S: For any fans of the fall, what is your favorite album/song by the fall and why? If you want to, you can come check out my subreddit Collectionhauls, where I've been posting vinyl finds I've had at the flea market, and have been posting music to check out since March. If you want, you can come post something from your collections to show to others. Anyway, goodbye and I hope you enjoyed my post and possibly enjoy the Fall even more.
China, money laundering, Imperial Pacific Casino, James Woolsey, & Saipan
There is a sketchy casino on the edge of the America with some strange happenings. From the Bloomberg Article below: "Its board members include James Woolsey, who ran the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency in the early 1990s and was among national-security advisers to Trump’s presidential campaign. Former FBI director Louis Freeh and Ed Rendell, a former Pennsylvania governor and Democratic National Committee chairman, sit on an advisory committee, as does Haley Barbour, the ex-Mississippi governor and Republican National Committee chairman who’s now a prominent lobbyist.": https://www.saipantribune.com/index.php/ex-cia-director-named-imperial-pacifics-new-advisory-committee/ https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-03-30/fbi-agents-visit-office-of-saipan-casino-run-by-trump-protege A year later after Woolsey takes position on the advisory board, , this superstar casino in the middle of nowhere gets investigated for illegal labor practices https://www.nytimes.com/2017/05/04/business/saipan-casino-illegal-chinese-workers-trump.html Have you ever seen a hotel this nice? Island population is 2,500, keep in mind. Clean Chinese money? http://www.imperialpacific.com/en/ip-resort-hotel-saipan Remember back in the 1990s when Saipan was USA's sweatshop? "Made in America", but in third world conditions through legalese: https://www.nytimes.com/1993/07/18/world/made-usa-hard-labor-pacific-island-special-report-saipan-sweatshops-are-no.html Who ran the CIA at the time? James Woolsey. The Tan family of CMNI fame also donated to the Hillary Clinton in 2006. The Tan family apparently ran some sweatshops too. In my opinion. Not sure what the significance is, but it looks like if HRC won, Tans can keep business as usual? http://thehill.com/5552-hillary-clinton-and-the-sweatshop-tycoon-of-saipan Some opinions & thoughts on this. Saipan is obviously a major money laundering center that does not have the same visa restrictions on China as other US territories in my opinion. A shit ton of money makes its way out of China, through Hong Kong and Macao by rich Chinese aka ChiCom bootlickers and is laundered by this hotel in my opinion. That's one reason why Macau had to exercise capital controls last year. Ex CIA director oversees the operation from afar and makes sure it runs smoothly. A year later, it's investigated for illegal labor practices. Now this kind of thing is common on Saipan (they are not beholden to US labor laws). However, many Chinese "workers" (aka forced money mules, maybe prisoners or otherwise) were accidentally killed while constructing the casino and are apparently buried right where they fell. Is this a way to kill witnesses without any accountability? There was an FBI raid last year. What were the results of that ? Saipan has gotten in trouble before with labor disputes, but this seems a bit convenient. Saipan is also the capital of Birth Tourism & considering Chinese don't need a visa to visit, serves as a bargaining chip. Haul over the Chinese money and get backdoor US citizenship in return, or just get killed in a "labor accident" and never be heard from again. Either is possible, depending on who you are. Does anybody have any thoughts about this? Is it just an innocuous casino in the middle of the Pacific that just happens to be "advised" by ex-CIA, with such close ties to China and The Swamp, and as very few regulations and oversight. Just something I noticed I wanted to mention. In my opinion. Does anybody else find this a bit odd? tldr: shady casino in middle of pacific "advised" by ex-CIA with ties to China & The Swamp.

I personally believe that the Fall, while revered in Post-Punk circles and UK indie music, I feel that they are still highly underappreciated in popular music. I feel that they should have been on the same level as the Cure or Joy Division in their cultural significance to music in general. However, what we do have from the Fall is great and I can say that I love them dearly. For any fans of the fall, what is your opinion on the significance of the Fall to popular music? What do you find to be your favorite aspect of the Fall's music?

Anybody want to see a Cheers style show set in the cantina on Tatooine?
Since Disney is making so many new and original shows, how about a show that takes place in the cantina? I figure a good name could be: MACLUNKEY! The cast features: Greedo: Best known for spending most of his time in the cantina, whenever he’s not out bounty hunting. So popular with the regulars, that they greet him with a “GREEDO!” every time he makes an enterance. Wolfman: Another regular, always trying to come up with new scams and ways to make a quick credit. Is often foiled by... Lt. Moff: Commands the local Imperial garrison, this lovable bumbling lawman for whom duty always comes second to a cold one. Yaddle: Has fallen on hard times, earns a few credits from singing every weekend. Often uses the force to get free drinks. The bartender: Dreams of earning enough credits to fulfill his lifelong dream of owning a casino-sandcrawler. Is therefore always trying to run scams with Wolfman and Lt. Moff. HATES DROIDS. C3B3 and H00T: A lovable pair of ownerless droids. Who for some reason have been programmed to sit in a cantina, do small talk and drink all day. Are therefore constantly trying to fulfill their program and avoid the bars droid boycott. Are also victims of a memorywipe. Have a mysterious past they don’t remember.
Fan rewrite of the Canto Bight scene from The Last Jedi
Hello! In a spontaneous burst of creativity I have written down my fan reimagination of the Canto Bight Casino scene, considered by a lot of people, myself included, as not exactly peak Star Wars quality. I hope you will enjoy and I would greatly appreciate if you'd like to leave some thoughts after reading. Warning: long text. [Rose and Finn have just landed on Canto Bight and ran into the Casino building] Rose and Finn are looking around the casino in wonder, marveling at the riches and beauty neither of them could ever imagine. [We keep the same montage of all the games, tables and activities in the casino] Suddenly the ground shakes violently but despite Rose and Finn almost losing their footing, none of the regular patrons seem to be bothered. They race to a balcony to see a gigantic loop tunneled into the ground behind the casino building. Then another tremor starts and two PODRACERS zoom past the casino at breakneck speed. Yet the tunnel looks impossible to maintain this race at it is only a few meters wide with sharp turns and obstacles on the way with pods barely making the turns. The onlookers and guests all seem to have a great time enjoying their drinks and casual conversation. The bets have been placed long ago and it looks like the race itself is of little importance to the patrons. All are posh and stylish, with flowing robes and handcrafted suits decorated with gold and riches. All but one woman. A woman in ragged clothes, trembling, biting her nails and mumbling something like a mantra, seems to be the object of constant nasty remarks from the other guests. Finn notices a datapad attached to the railing – it displays the information on the podracers taking part in the current race. He notices some are constructed using decommissioned Rebel Alliance fighter parts and scraps from Imperial tech. Final racer listed doesn’t match the rest. Riding a shiny chrome vehicle that looks engineered to perfection to fit the track and its dangers. The racer’s previous victories are also listed. Then a flash is seen in the canyon and the chrome racer approaches. He looks to be in the leading position yet closely interlocked with one of the scrappiest pods. The ragged woman gets visibly more worried and recites her mantra louder. It seems she is repeating a name over and over yet it’s one Finn has never heard before. Suddenly a loud scraping noise can be heard making the patrons cover their ears in pain. On the final corner the silver racer pushes into the scrap pod, pressing it against the tunnel wall. The scrapper loses control of his vehicle, spins uncontrollably then explodes in a ball of fire. Silver has won. Again. As he was supposed to. The patrons cheer and go to collect their winnings while the ragged woman looks like all life escaped from her body. She slides to her knees, stops speaking and breaks into tears. Rose approaches her and tries to comfort her, unsuccessfully. An important-looking patron approaches the balcony followed closely by some members of security personnel. He demands payment from the ragged woman and through tears she whimpers that she has nothing left. No money, no home and now.. no brother, either. The racer that has blown up was her last family member and they spent everything they had putting the vehicle together in an attempt to pay back their debts. He says that in this case she will pay him back in labor, then Finn and Rose rush between the patron and the woman, standing in her defense. They will not accept this treatment. And yet, our heroes are no match for armored guards equipped to pacify the most violent patrons. Finn and Rose get stunned, captured and dragged to prison. Through her closing eyes Rose sees another guard forcefully dragging the girl away. Finn and Rose wake up in a prison cell, not aware of how much time passed and not a step closer to finding the codebreaker. They discuss their plans and look for a way out and Rose realizes that in all that transpired in the casino they haven’t even seen the player with a red flower pin. This mention starts a commotion in the cell, waking up another resident. After a brief introduction, he reveals that the he is the one they have been looking for all along, and the flower besides being a decoration served as his encrypted databank with a lot of valuable information stored on it. He agrees to help the heroes if Finn manages to recover it, while he and Rose will secure an escape craft and locate BB-8 lost in the commotion. Finn unwillingly agrees and mentions how this will go nowhere unless they find a way out from the cell. The codebreaker smiles and with a quick flash of a small shiny object the cage door is open… [cue Finn invading the casino using his superior stormtrooper training, stealing the flower pin and jumping off a balcony into the ship Rose and BB-8 managed to secure.]

I have not decided yet to remain anonymous or to reveal who i am. I just want to say that my memories started to come back to me shortly after my 40th birthday. I am now 44. I was born and raised in San Diego, Ca. I am of Mexican descent, both my parents are from Culiacan Sinaloa Mexico. All of what I'm going to say is true to the best of my recollection. I was born with the spirit of King David. please bare with me as I explain a little more. I received visions and could hear them speak earlier in my childhood. but I didn't understand them. I witnessed Adam descending to me, first he spoke to YAWEH, and than began to descend to my birth. I saw the Earth at night. but you could see lights like little dots lighting up the cities. as Adam came down to me, Eve followed him down to earth. Adam said to Eve I need to get down to him because he is only going to survive for a little while 7 hours., I need to get down to him, Eve ended up not following him at first she went towards another part of the earth around the middle east somewhere. When she landed I heard her scream in terror. she than ascended and said do not go were she had gone, ever. She than followed Adam to me. But right before she did she asked Yahweh. Where the antichrist was going to be born? and Yahweh told her Hawaii. Eve asked him "if he was going find him?". I don't remember what his reply was. I think it was yes. On the Day of my baptismal, I wasn't 1 yet. I was baptized in Tijuana B.C. is when I first heard King David speak, while I was being baptized I heard King David say "I'm David, I'm David" he was speaking within me. He kept on repeating it like he was trying to get someone's attention. I believe it's because King David was Hebrew, and I was in the middle of being baptized catholic. After the ceremony I remember a priest putting his head down to me like he could hear King David, and told me to ask for the 7 virtues, this is the first time I remember seeing a man named Dave Wilcox. He is a Mexican man a soothsayer someone who could also mesmerize people. He knew who I was carrying within me. He took me to the priest after he was able to hear King David during the baptism. Dave Wilcox is an Evil person, and I do not forgive him. he is never to be trusted. I saw Dave wave his finger in front of the priest eyes from left to right and they told him to forget. I remember that night, after the baptismal I remember Dave Wilcox taking me from my home at night to go see Groucho Marx. Groucho was sick in his bed when Dave took me to him Milton Berle was at his bed side. Groucho was old and sick he didn't get out of his bed, Dave put me in his arms Groucho looked at me and made a joke something like " Its going to fit perfectly on his forehead" something like that. I remember Milton Berle chuckling a little. Groucho than cradled me in his arms and I began to cry. Groucho Than said "don't cry because uncle Milton doesn't like crybabies". Dave than took me from his arms, as I was lifted I had left some type of residue on him. It was a shiny residue, Groucho noticed it too and looked amazed, and confused. When I was 4 years old my family lived in Imperial Beach. Ca. There was a elementary school nearby. Bayside elementary. I was to attend preschool there. The Day before my first day of preschool. this Woman who i will refer to as "the witch" appeared to my mother, I remember her from my birth, she was present on the day of my birth. She is a white woman with long blond wavy hair, a chubby woman. She did the same technique to my mother that Dave had done to the priest . She mesmerized my mom and told her to take me to see an aunt called "Cuca". The witch admitted that she was doing it out of envy. my mother complied . she took me to go see my aunt . when we got to my aunts place my mom had to run some errands and left me under my aunts care. Well my aunt immediately took me to a neighboring home. It was a half empty apartment, there was a table with a bunch of people sitting around it . on the table I saw a board with a circle and a bunch of drawings of heads around the circle like numbers on the face of a clock face. in the middle there was an object that I can only describe as a large drinking bird . that could tap on the pictures on the board it was able to rotate around to do so. there was a small bust of Jesus Malverde, and I remember a small grey alien doll sitting at the table. my aunt told me to walk around the table and was followed behind by the people sitting around the table . we all walked around the table in a line and the sat back down. than i saw the drinking bird start to tap on the faces on the board in a random pattern. I than stood a little bit away from them and started to see little balls of light coming towards me. after I remember my aunt taking me out of the apartment and we waited a bit outside for my mom to return. while we stood outside I heard a voice scorn her and what have you done. se replied that they were going to take "them" from me. They being Adam, Eve, and King David. the spirits I was born with. she knew what they were going to do to me the next day. shortly my mom arrived and took me home. Barry On my first day of preschool my mom had gotten me ready to go for my first day of school, as we walked out of our home there was the witch again, waiting outside our gate, she told my mom that she herself would take me to school not my mother. My mom did as she asked with no hesitation. The woman took me to school. The school was only 5 small blocks away from were we lived. I did as i was told. Instead of taking me to my class on my very first day of school, she took me to an office with no one in it. The woman directed me to stand in front of her with my back to her she told me to first put my right hand on a table that was next to us and she told me to close my eyes I complied. When I close my eyes I felt her place what I felt to be a birds claw on my hand , as she pulled the birds claw off my hand it had left a residue. Than I opened my eyes and another white woman, a brunette with long hair stepped into the room. She didn't say who she was only that she had a son who wanted to be president, and I could help him become president. she showed me card she had in her hand, it was a picture of Adam from Hieronymus Bosch the garden of earthly delights. She than said my son looks just like Adam." you're going to give him to my son" she told me . "they want him to be that other guy who has sex with all those women but I won't let that happen". still I didn't know what she was talking about. She than showed me a picture of Jesus from the same painting, she told me later I was going to receive this man. still i had no idea who she was referring to. She stood up, as before she was kneeling down to speak to me. than that brunette called out for "Barry". "his name is Barry Sotello" she said. by now we all know Barry Sotello real name is Barrack Obama. "Barry" walked in wearing a cream color members only jacket he knelt down in front of me an said you're my spiritual brother, you can grant wishes. He than asked the woman who had brought me to the office if they had used the grimoire she than replied that they had used they greater key of Solomon. he talked to her like he was her boss. Barracks mom than drew a line under his right eye with a makeup pencil, after she did the same to me, except she only drew the line half way on me. she said that it would grow to full size when I met him. Who "him" was i don't know. Than barrack made a wish, he said " I want to be president and I want power". they than asked what I wanted to be and I think I said fireman or I don't know, barrack than said "wait I thought you wanted to be superman " I than said" yes. I want to be superman." they told me to swipe under his right eye with the hand that had the resin from the birds claw. I did as I was told, barrack than kind of leaned away from me and sucked in air like he was inhaling something. He knelt down in front of me and gave me a hug. "as he walked away I could hear a voice inside me say "don't go!" it was the voice of a woman. it was Eve that was calling out to Adam. "they want me to be a farmer" he replied and "this is a grown up". Barry than walked away he acted arrogant towards me. This happened in 1979. The next day it happened again. these were the pictures they showed me Adam and Eve were cut into individual cards. This time it was a woman named Hillary, I was taken to the same office as before, the same thing happened, the white woman again stood behind me and put a birds claw on my right hand and again it left a residue. She moved me to the center of the office were I could see and could be seen through window partitions towards a waiting area, and that's were I first saw her. Hillary was standing there looking at me, she was looking down at me. I remember her wearing a red dress. a door opened and she walked through it towards me smiling and gave me a big hug. she introduced herself and than showed me a picture of Eve from the same garden of earthly delights painting, it was a small cut out card the same as when Barry Sotelo mom showed me of Adam. Hillary showed me the picture of Eve and told me "this is what your mother looked like when she was young", she than began to act a little strange almost hesitant. I was going to swipe her with the residue like I had done to Barry. But She began to pull away from me and walk away, like she didn't want to go through it after all. But than she turned around almost like she had a second thought and said fuck it I'll take the swipe and she did. I swiped the residue under her eye and she did the same inhalation technique Barry did, she made a wish and asked to be secretary of the treasury and she also wanted power, she told me to also ask for power and not knowledge. She noticed that I had that residue on my hand and told me to save it for myself and to make a wish, this time I'm not sure if I made wish or not but I do remember asking for power because she told me to. After that she gave me a hug and told me to "wait for her". I resumed the rest of the school day. Not really remembering what I had done or gone through. I now remember the white woman who helped with the ritual, after the rituals were done she would pass her finger in front of my eyes from left to right and than saying that I was not going to remember what they did, almost like hypnotizing me or mesmerize me into forgetting. But after all this time my memories have come back to me. Hillary and Bubba maybe. really really really young Hillary On this day they really took advantage of me. After school , I went home. Some how the witch convinced my mother to go out somewhere and left me alone with her, she was after the spirit of King David. She noticed that I still had residue on my hand from earlier when I swiped Hillary. she brought a couple of young kids to me both of them white. I remember 1 was slender with a ball cap, the other one was fat, short hair cut. but both were older than me I was 4 they were about 11 around that age. the witch than made them do almost the same thing I had done with Barry and Hillary they both made wishes the thin one wanted to read peoples minds , marry one of my wives, and asked for King David , I swiped him. I remember that King David had left me but he came back as soon as the witch walked that kid outside, as they crossed my front window. I heard King David say" I'm back, I didn't go. I going to hide". I noticed that his voice had changed. That concerns me. I feel so much sadness remembering these days. the next one, the fat kid I remember I didn't have any more residue on my fingers but the witch still tried to make him wish for something . I barely remember what he asked for, it had something to do with my wife. that's about it . I also swiped him . With what ever was left from the residue. God please forgive me for what I have done. I feel so sad right now. all they wanted to do was take from me. and its because I'm not white. Barry is half white. The witch made it known to me that it was because I wasn't white is why she took them from me..... Fuck that Bitch. Later that night it was Dave Wilcox turn to betray me. while me and my family were sleeping. Dave was able to wake me, from my room. he was standing outside and signaled for me to go outside and meet him. he took me towards a white limousine that was parked a short distance away. he took my hand and again Dave put the chicken foot on my hand right before we got into the white limousine. inside was Donald Trump. he had a lawyer sitting to his right, Dave took a seat towards the left side of the limousine, I stood in front of him, Donald already had a line drawn under his eye, he talked to me about having troubles in the locker room of his club, he was having urges towards men. he may have been feeling gay. and that i could fix that for him. again we did the same fucking ritual, he hugged me and asked for the spirit of Poseidon. now I distinctly remember that because he asked the lawyer and Dave " that's the guy who controls the oceans.. right?" they agreed. he told me to swipe him under his eye. I did. he than sat down and than arrogantly proclaimed that he was going to take my inevitable rights...Fuck that Puto. He than gave Dave a briefcase full of money that was supposed to be for me, but i never saw any of it, and since Dave Wilcox is part of the Sinaloa Cartel and Donald Trump did business with him well .. lets just say that shortly after it was The Sinaloa Cartel who harassed my father for the money. he was going to invest it and let it grow in a bank account but Dave and Joaquin Guzman Loera, went to the casinos because they were sure they could make more money gambling. They took the money away from my dad, because they were going to kill us. you know how they threaten people those that are poor even they're own kind will betray for money. https://preview.redd.it/oikbsgwrro461.jpg?width=1730&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=37f20c41c469ee0cd7d01f4b3c1d1e358d861dc8 Through the years it kept on going like that, But this time it was mostly Dave who came around to manipulate and harass me into swiping people I did not know, including himself. Dave Wilcox is a very dark 2 faced individual. he used me to gain influence with people . I swiped Leo C. Tom C. Anthony H. and others, I don't remember to well. I don't have any ill will towards the entertainers except for Tom C. and L Ron Hubbard's Bullshit Religion. I remember Tom C telling me you're going to receive a very powerful Thetan one day I think he called him Bill, Thetan Bill or something like that. I remember Dave Miscavich also that big piece of human shit can go fuck himself, I actually saw Dave Wilcox kneel to Dave Miscavich shortly after I swiped him. I know I'm skipping a lot and I would like to say more, but I want to tell you about the politicians first because of the power they wield. My main concern is that they may be the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse. this one will have meaning to Marco, he got caught. The last politician is Marco Rubio his was one of the most recent swipes that I gave. Dave Wilcox again showed up but this time it's 2000 ish I'm not really sure the exact year but I do remember this. I am in my mid 20's at this time. I'm in my bed and I'm still living at home with my parents. my room faces the street outside. I live in a quiet neighborhood, a suburb. at night usually everyone is asleep during the really late hours like lets say 2 to 3 in the morning. any ways, That asshole Dave Wilcox woke me up he could see me through my window, I woke up and he said " hey There's some one out here who wants to meet you. get dressed and come outside". I don't know why but I felt compelled to do what he had told me to do. So I put on some pants, a shirt and went outside I don't even think I wore shoes I was barefoot. Dave immediately started to direct me on what to do it was mostly just to stand there., I look out and see that the street in front of my house had a bunch of people, some in cars some just standing there just watching. So I think first he introduces me to a girl she might have been Christina A, It seemed brief I don't remember much it was nice, than Dave Wilcox approaches holding the hand of a young white kid. he looks like Justin B. Dave and Justin are facing me, mind you Justin is only like 8 or 9 really young. they look at me and than Justin says i see a rainbow above him. and I'm not sure he may have hugged me and than walked away. than Dave told me that this guy wanted to make a hit record and had proclaimed earlier before I woke up that he had more knowledge about Satan than I did. That guy was Kanye W. he was given a controller, a small device, and was asked to walk south on my street far enough were I couldn't hear his voice or see him. than I was able to hear him but this time he was directing me on what to do " stand on one leg" he would say and i would do it. " jump, walk forward" stuff like that....Fuck that Puto also. any ways. Someone upstairs got pissed and told me to run after him and I believe beat him up or something because they did not like him. I was barefoot and I know it was Mohamed who told me that he was gonna protect my feet so they wouldn't hurt and go after him. so I did and I booked it at full speed towards Kanye. I grabbed him by his jacket, and he began to chuckle almost like he didn't understand that I was going to try to beat him up or something like that, by than Dave Wilcox and A White guy who is the leader of the Illuminati. later but not now I will explain more about him. so next I try to swing at Kanye and by that point he got the hint that I wasn't an admirer. Dave and The Illuminati guy who I will call Wilbur from now on, just because I don't remember his name. Any ways Dave and Wilbur told Kanye to take a hike so he did. he took off in his car, I'm speculating towards the Marina. So than Dave walks me towards the rest of the people who were on my street. I remember being kindly greeted by I think it was Bruno M. he was very kind and was crying a little bit he said I was special to him. Gwen S. I think she just stood and stared at me a little, I don't remember much of our interaction. Kim K and Kris K her mom were there also this time Kim K wanted a spirit from me and guess who she asked for? she asked for Eve another one wants Eve well they do the same fucking ritual. I'm not even sure if they put a chicken claw on my hand this time but they probably did. so again Kim ask for Eve but instead they gave her " the whore of Babylon". and she recognized that. she than told her mom that "they gave me the whore of Babylon?" almost like not sure why. Than her mom told her well we did choose vanity. her mom didn't seem upset. Kris than said something about finding her daughter and if I found her something could happen but since she's with Kanye now and they have a bunch of kids I am defiantly not interested. ugh. she has Kanye stank on her, also their was Wildur V. I heard a woman say that they needed a TV star there. also Wildur V, began to mock me and started to prance around me and said that he was an angel or acting like one, but it looked to me like he was making fun of me in a way. any ways he was taken away by them, I think they got the hint he was beginning to insult me. Ok so now they took me to man wearing a red ball cap he was dressed in a shirt and tie and definitely looked like he did not belong with the rest of the people I was meeting. it was Marco Rubio. A total square amongst the entertainers. he stuck out like a sore thumb he was on his knees all ready like a good little boy. all neat and proper. just like a sneaky low down coconut. I'm going to admit something to you. before they all came to me I was able to see all of them first some of them were in an apartment or hotel there meeting with each other and gathering up, Marco is not among them they come down to a couple of vans that were gonna take them to me, some drove theme selves in there own vehicles. anyways Marco met up with them down in the vans. they thought he was some kind of entertainment executive. and he acted like a square. on the way to me I saw The moon splitting in 2 and than a voice began to admonish Marco, telling him he wasn't going to get away with this, he acted like he didn't care... so than there we are, he is kneeling In front of me wearing a red ball cap and again we do the same fucking ritual. I swipe him and he receives the "General" I'm not sure who it was but I remember the voice that had told me that Kim was given the whore, Marco was given the General. Hopefully it was General Custer. and that's it. finally after all that shit was done I was ready to go to my room, Dave asked me if I wanted anything and I said No. I went to bed and after I went to lay down Dave again ask me to come outside they were going to give me something, I know what happened, I know who it was and I want to tell you that they did not let me feel anything I was completely numb and did not see who it was. and I will never say what happened. but I know god knows what happened. Now there is a large gap in between my fourth year of life and my 20's but i do believe that the 4 horsemen are Barry, Hillary, Donald, and Marco. 2 democrats and 2 republicans a political pincer movement Democrips and Rebloodicans , 2 from the left 2 from the right. The antichrist is the black guy so that everyone will love him for overcoming so much, and becoming the first black president but the white power movement will use that for there own despicable needs. Even though they support an evil piece of shit like Donald, greedy, lying, dumb, arrogant Donald. that's the Devils plan. both sides are corrupted. evil whites will eat that shit up and have a reason to hate on Barry even more. the antichrist was going to let the Gays gat married, and he was going to be born in Hawaii. and that sucks because I voted for Barry twice... before I remembered everything. I am sad that it was Barry. the first black president should not have been the antichrist. us that are poor black and brown thought he was great. we loved him. and I feel betrayed. but he is who he is and I am ashamed that I took part in these rituals. I have a lot more that I remember, regarding Chapo Guzman, the freemasons, Ronald Reagan ,and the C freeman El Chart. but I'm going to save that for later because I'm tired and upset.
